Home Page Painting: The Sweetgrass Sacrifice: Self-Portrait

Within all of us is a world complete. We all have a gift. It is sobering to reflect that in Judaism we say that the gift most cherished by God/dess is humility.

 

Nothing is perfect in creation, my personal life drama is almost the opposite of perfect, nor is any work of art or poetry perfect. Nor any website... I never thought of myself as having artistic talent as I growing up, neither was I encouraged. I have practically no formal training in art. But I always admired art and loved to study the paintings in galleries and books. When I was thirty and working in my father's clothing store, I began to do artwork to pass the time. As a person living with schizophrenia, I also believed that there is healing in producing art. Without any gesture on my part, I had several people express an interest in owning my art, to which I gratefully complied.

     For years I painted rather chaotic and undisciplined art which impressed people with originality, humor and mystery. Here are some examples.
